Neuro Nomad Studios — Artist Statement
I create fine art nature photography, digital illustrations, and handmade clay characters.
It started on city streets. I spent years as a street photographer chasing the kind of moments that exist for only a second, then disappear — light catching someone’s face just right, a hand frozen mid-gesture, patterns between the city and the people moving through it. I wasn’t documenting places. I was documenting aliveness.
When I moved to California, that instinct followed me off the pavement and onto hiking trails. The subject changed. The impulse didn’t.
Nature photography turned out to be the same pursuit wearing different shoes. A bird caught mid-wingbeat. The way afternoon light drags itself across a hillside. A tiny mushroom pushing stubbornly out of nowhere like it has something to prove. Snails drinking morning dew from a leaf, completely unbothered by the rest of the world.
I point a camera at the things most people walk past, because I think those things deserve to be seen.
Eventually, the clay work grew out of the same curiosity — just with dirtier hands. What started as sculpting with my kids slowly became its own thing: small original characters with quiet personalities and zero agenda. Each one is made by hand, one at a time, and no two are quite the same. I think of them as tiny friends — supportive, undemanding, and completely free of judgment.
Digital illustration is where I let things loosen a little. I explore pattern, color, and the natural world — sometimes with scientific precision, sometimes with a logic that belongs entirely to my own brain. Always detailed. Usually a little whimsical. Occasionally slightly unhinged in the best possible way.
Neuro Nomad Studios isn’t really about one medium or one style. It’s about slowing down enough to actually look at something. It’s about realizing a snail, a hillside, or a slightly lopsided clay creature can hold just as much feeling as anything else — if you give it a moment.
I make things wherever I land.
